I’m sure many people in the Philippines are now planning their Holy Week get-away. When I was still working, it is the holidays that I’m really looking forward too because it’s a 4-days full paid vacation from the company. I spent many of my holyweeks with friends, especially with friends who need to go back to their province to spend it with their family. I live in Manila in my whole single life. I’m deprived from country living, that’s why I love going from places to places and holy week is the only chance I can get because I’m too busy with work and school.
Now,living in a multi-cultural country, holy week is not that a big of a deal. Good Friday is the only day that consider holiday and if you are working, you won’t get paid for that day off,and that’s it. In the Philippines, it’s Holy Thursday,Good Friday,Black Saturday and Easter Sunday are all holidays.
Philippines are known as being a Christian country but obviously, many Filipinos doesn’t live to that expectation anymore.
